True Seller Price Calculator for Amazon Sellers

Enter what one unit costs you, your FBA fulfillment fee and the margin you want. The calculator works backwards from Amazon's referral fee to the price that actually leaves that margin, and shows your break-even and minimum price. Free, no sign-up, and nothing leaves your browser.

Loads the 15% referral fee that applies in most US categories (minimum $0.30 per item). Some categories use other rates. The FBA fee depends on your product’s size tier, so enter it yourself. Individual plan sellers also pay $0.99 per item; Professional sellers pay $39.99 per month.

How to Calculate Your True Amazon Profit Margin?

Your true profit margin on Amazon is what remains of the selling price after every cost is paid, divided by that price. The trap is that many of those costs are hidden fees that only appear on your settlement report: the referral fee is taken as a percentage of the whole sale, the fulfillment cost is charged per unit, and storage, returns and advertising quietly add up. A margin calculated from the product cost alone is almost always too optimistic.

Work it out in three steps:

  1. Landed cost per unit. Product cost, plus freight and duties to get it into Amazon's warehouse, plus packaging and prep.
  2. Amazon fees per unit. The FBA fulfillment fee for your size tier, the referral fee (most categories charge 15% with a $0.30 minimum) and, on the Individual plan, the per-item fee.
  3. Net profit. Selling price minus fees minus landed cost minus advertising and returns. Divide net profit by the selling price to get your margin.

Because the referral fee grows with your price, raising the price by one dollar does not add one dollar of profit. That is why this calculator solves for the price directly instead of adding a markup to your cost.

Example: the price for a 20% margin is $19.08

Break-even is $14.59 and the 10% minimum is $16.54. Adding 20% to the $12.40 of costs would give $14.88, a margin of only 1.67% once the referral fee is taken. Read the full walkthrough.

What this calculator does not know

Amazon's fees depend on your category, size tier, marketplace and the date, and they change. The “Load typical US fees” button fills in only the common 15% referral rate and links to Amazon's fee page; check your own category and your fulfillment fee before relying on the result. Storage fees, low-inventory surcharges and returns processing vary month to month, so treat them as an allowance per unit.

Frequently asked questions

How much should I charge to make 20 percent profit on Amazon?

Add up your landed product cost and the FBA fulfillment fee, then solve for the price at which 20% of the price is left after the referral fee and every other cost. Because the referral fee is a percentage of the price, you cannot simply add 20% to your cost. Enter your costs above, set the target margin to 20% and the calculator shows the exact price.

Does the Amazon referral fee apply to shipping?

Amazon calculates the referral fee on the total sales price, which includes any shipping or gift-wrap charge the buyer pays but excludes sales tax. The calculator applies the percentage to the item price plus the shipping you charge, before tax, with the per-item minimum.

Where do I find my FBA fulfillment fee?

The fulfillment fee depends on your product's size tier and shipping weight, and Amazon updates it periodically. Take it from Amazon's current FBA fee table or the revenue calculator in Seller Central and enter it per unit. TrueSellerPrice does not guess it for you.

What costs are not included in the FBA fee?

The FBA fee covers picking, packing and shipping one unit to the customer. Monthly storage, inbound placement, removal and return processing fees, advertising and your inbound freight are separate. Add storage and other per-unit costs to the inbound or packaging lines, and advertising as a percentage of revenue.

Is my data saved or sent anywhere?

No. The calculator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is stored or sent to our servers, and no account is needed.
